From the parking lot in St. Christoph, pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago cross over the pass on the historic Arlberg trail, which leads to the Alpe Rauz, and from there they continue on their way to Stuben via Rauzbach. Here you can have something to eat in the little village store. From Stuben, a delightful walkway leads to Passürtobel, from where you can reach Langen on the abandoned national highway. From Langen and beyond, you can reach Klösterle on the old train tracks after the laying of railroad tracks in the new Grosstobel tunnel. There is a magnificent view of the opposing local mountain “Burtschakopf” directly opposite, which is situated at an altitude of 2,244 m.
The Johanniter Hospice, which was founded by Count Hugo I of Montfort in 1218, was once run in Klösterle. The place and the valley, today’s Klostertal, are named after the monks of the Middle Ages. Surrounded by the Lechtaler Alps and the Verwall Mountains, a varied landscape awaits you, above all the contrast between the sides of the valley.
After fortifying yourself with food and drink in our pilgrim-friendly accommodation, you can reach the old train tracks by following the Sonnenweg over the serpentines; here you can take in a final view of the Arlberg massif, before the trail turns towards Bludenz.
